Providing Counseling Services to Youth, Ages 9-17

What I Offer:

  • Over 20 Years Experience Working with Youth

    • I bring with me 15 years experience as a classroom educator to my work as a mental health professional.

    • As a former educator of 15 years, I bring a unique set of skills as a counselor that most others cannot provide. I understand the challenges your child faces at school, and I am qualified to help them meet those challenges.

  • A True Passion for the Work

    • It can be hard to find a mental health provider who truly has a passion for working with youth. I have been a passionate advocate for young people and their needs since I was in high school. I’m truly honored to be able to do this work!

  • Unique Understanding of the Childhood Experience

    • My training as both an educator and a counselor combined with my years of experience advocating for youth has allowed me to understand their experience in a way that makes them feel valued and heard.

  • ADHD and Autism Support

    • Personally and professionally, in the classroom and the therapy space, I have a background supporting those navigating neurodivergence including experiences of ADHD and Autism.

What Do Sessions Look Like?

Intake Session:

  • Both the child/teen and at least one parent/guardian should attend the intake session. The input from both with be helpful as I get to know you!

  • Therapy goals will be established taking input from both the child/teen and the parent/guardian. These will guide the work we do in our regular sessions.

Regular Session:

  • We often begin with a therapy game to help get conversation flowing. It can be tough to come in and talk for 50 minutes, so this is a great, nonthreatening way to start.

  • After the game, we will spend some time covering topics that came up during the game as well as working on identified goals.

  • In general, I like the child/teen to attend the full session by themselves. About every 4th session, I will invite a parent/guardian to attend the last half of the session for a check-in. This can be adjusted according to individual needs.
